"Meri_Mar" (2019) is a joint composition between composers Krõõt-Kärt Kaev and Örnólfur Eldon Þórsson, realised for a quadrophonic sound system. Originally it was conceived and presented as a sound installation in the context of an arts exhibition in Tallinn titled "Beyond the Sea", with paintings by Mari Roosvalt that all dealt with topics related to the sea. The title suggests a close link to the sea, being derived from the estonian word for sea as a material and the icelandic description of its bahaviour. Instead of thinking about the sea from the top layer with its wide horizon, it is rather about descending vertically and exploring the enormous space below its surface, varying pressure by depth and exploring new soundscapes.
